So another week has disappeared into thin air, we’re almost at the end of February and Summer is almost over! Although we’re still experiencing the 4 personalities of Melbourne weather on a daily basis, so I’m sure we’ll have a few more sunny days to come.
This week I’ve been swimming in a sea of tulle pom poms, but I finally revealed Cleo’s new room. It’s safe to say, I have serious room envy of my 2 year old! You can see a few pics over on Instagram but I’ll definitely share more pics on the blog soon (including a full supplier list).
This week I also decided to update the house (just for something new!). They say change is just as good as a holiday so with the amount of updates and changes I make, you’d think I’d be as relaxed as Ronda from the Aami car insurance ad! My main focus is updating without spending a fortune, so Target was a logical shopping destination. Armed with an empty trolley and a tonne of decorating ideas in my head, I decided I needed some goodies to update our house, without having to change the entire room. Sometimes a new cushion or a doona cover can be enough to mix things up.
First stop was the bedding department and I have to say, I was hugely impressed by the current ranges on offer at Target. They’ve just released a linen range which is ‘oh-so- divine‘. My mind was focussed on decorating Cleo’s room so I had to put the blinkers on (but I might need to head back in soon to get a linen doona cover for our bed!). The pink linen European pillowcase was a must for Cleo’s room (& they’re perfect to be used as floor cushions in kids rooms). That’s $20 well spent! I then decided on the Grey Star doona cover which is an absolute bargain at $14!

I love a good splash of pink (clearly!) but I’ve decided to show you just how easy it is to change the look of a room with a few simple updates. I’ve turned Olive’s room into a neutral nursery with a only a handful of items. As soon as I saw this grid cot sheet instore, I knew it would be coming home with me. I’ve just layered in some cushions and added a very handy storage basket and I’ve instantly changed the look and feel of the room for under $60. Just add your favourite piece of art for the walls and you’re good to go! This is proof you don’t need to spend a fortune to create or update a room.

Next on my updating list was the living room and I’ve welcomed a little splash of colour. I couldn’t go past this vibrant rug for $39 which also comes in black. It appears I have a thing for side tables and my collection seems to be growing by the week. But for $25 this beauty is a winner and has instantly updated our living room. To finish off this look I’ve added a cute table lamp and some blooms.

So with only a few small changes, you can instantly transform the look of a room without spending a fortune. Target is definitely worth a look if you’re in the market for some fab and affordable homewares.
