I’m a big believer in styling your home without having to spend a fortune. I’m often asked about creating a beautiful well thought out space on a budget and how this is even possible. The key is knowing what to invest in and what you can save money on.
I’m always on the lookout for divine homewares that don’t cost a fortune. Whilst it’s nice to dream about the couch that costs the same amount as a car, realistically this isn’t a practical option unless you never intend to sit on it! But I’m also mindful that you don’t want to fill you home with cheapies that don’t stand the test of time. So finding that balance of good quality, yet affordable products can be a challenge. But I’ve come across some amazing brands which tick both of these boxes!
But first let’s talk about the key investment pieces when decorating your home.
Let’s start with the living room. With so many couch options to choose from it can be overwhelming. They range from super cheap to high end (and in some cases costing the same price as a small car! Crazy!) But a good couch is going to stand the test of time, be comfortable (this is a huge factor!), be made from a durable fabric and be worth the investment. Do your research, hold out until the sales and shop around. I fell in love with a couch a few years ago that was so ridiculously priced, so I did some research and found a very similar one for almost a quarter of the price!
Beautiful artwork is definitely worth the investment and can transform a space. Artwork can be very expensive but I think if you can afford to invest in one special piece that you absolutely love, it’s definitely worth it.
So where can you save some money? Now that you’ve invested in a beautiful couch, you can definitely save some money on layering in affordable cushions and throws. Reversible cushions are a great option (two looks for the price of one!). Texture plays a crucial role when decorating so think about a mixture of tones and textures to help bring your space to life. We’re spoilt for choice these days when it comes to side tables, rugs and lamps so shop around for designs that complement your space.
